non fiction design collective

non fiction design is a collective based in columbus, ohio merging the worlds of ceramics, printmaking and the remaking and reuse of industrial cast-offs. they combine outdated processes like thermofax and letterpress with CNC milling and rapid prototyping and have come up with some pretty unique design objects such as porcelain lighting, invasive species tableware, and decor items using bricks and wallpaper swags using abandoned wallpaper.

Interesting stuff. I like the top one, what is the brown part? It looks like wood, but then again it doesn't. Wood or Clay?

mama randa morning glory - i think it's brick/clay but will hopefully get a resonse from them to clarify.

The brown part is actually a real brick - from a local brick factory in Ohio that we hammered our letterpress images into and then fired to temperature. So - to answer your question - red brick clay.
