phm studio spaces: two trick pony

Artist Name: Laurie Mee and Carrie Siegel
Shop Name and Url: Two Trick Pony, twotrickpony.etsy.com
Website: twotrickpony.com
City: Boston

Where in your home/apartment is your studio located?
Our studio is located in Laurie's basement, which is great when we're doing light-sensitive work like burning screens.

What equipment/tools do you use?
Steel and aluminum screen printing frames, water based screen printing ink, assorted recycled papers for production, and a combination of hand-rendered and digital illustrations for design work.

Do you have an inspiration board, and can you tell us what is inspiring you now?
We don't have a display board (though we just hung one up, ready to be filled!) but we've both been really inspired by some vintage typography books that Carrie found on a trip home to Florida, as well as "New Vintage Type," Steven Heller's new book.

How do you create best (e.g. do you listen to music while you create and if so what?)
Laurie is a huge fan of NPR, and we've both been digging The National's latest album, "Boxer." The first track especially has a complex rhythm structure that's brought up all kinds of pattern imagery in Carrie's mind...

List (3) of your favorite artists

Charley Harper (oh, my gosh...Charley Harper has a MySpace page!)
Maija Louekari
Jason Munn

If yours isn't, what would be your perfect studio?
Our studio was recently finished, so all it needs a patina of spilled inks before it's "perfect"...

Thank you Carrie and Laurie!

I LOVE the art from Two Trick Pony. But I am sad that I can't buy actual prints to hang on my wall.
