A Beautiful Duo

palett_3

Not really being a big flowery person, I'm rather taken by this paper from Designers Guild (Rosemoor Celadon P507/02) when combined with the beautiful handmade ceramic lamps from London-based designer and artist, Liz Emtage. Recently spotted at elleinterior.se. Photo Magnus Anesund

Hulaseventy loves lists: Magic Three

by Andrea of Hulaseventy

I've been spending a lot of time on my bike lately. Which, of course, has me dreaming of the sweetest bicycle accessories. Here are three I am absolutely loving:

1. Original bike helmets by Ruby Costume. Not something I can actually afford right now but a girl can dream. Go ahead, design one. That part will cost you nothing. Stripes or polka dots? Checked or solid? Lacquered, metallic or with glitter? And don't get me started on the color selection. For the record, I am partial to lagoon but that could change at any given moment. Sun yellow, caramel, ruby red, orange, pink. Even if I could afford one, how would I ever choose? I'm thinking I'd find a way.

2. Carrie Bicycle Baskets by Design House Stockholm. I'm pretty partial to old wicker bicycle baskets but these are seriously awesome.

3. Cycling Ankle Cuff in Pink Folk by Maked. I'm not sure I ride enough to warrant a cycling ankle cuff but let me tell you, I'm working on it. If it means I'll need to wear a cute cuff like this, well okay then. I'm officially motivated.

Miss Pickles Press

il_430xN.72405588
I came across Miss Pickles Press today via Ritzy Bee Blog and had to show her wonderful nostalgic flavoured paper goods and accessories here. They were used at a wedding you can see here and which are also now available in Miss Pickles Press etsy shop (lucky for us all)! I totally love these (note the gingham tops) and think they would be awesome for any occasion!

New Jotters from Heather Smith Jones

Heather Smith Jones likes the way layers of type and imagery accumulate on her letterpress test prints and she liked them so much she's designed these small books using the prints as covers. The inside contains 16 pages of acid-free cotton fiber paper. Each jotter is hand cut, stitched using linen thread, features rounded corners, and a coordinating vintage button closure with elastic cord. Also comes with a blind embossed letterpress "JOT" tag which can be used as a bookmark. Just added fresh to her etsy shop, hrsmithjones.etsy.com. We say we like them too!

Ribboned Mirrors + Blackboards

il_430xN.70188126
I just saw these ribboned mirrors and chalkboards over at Cafe Cartolina today. Fiona received an email from the designer Ashley Rush from Rowan's Room who wrote to tell her about them. They are each made "lovingly" from an antique cabinet door (many of them over 100 years old) from maple, oak, elm and eucalyptus trees. The frames are made without the use of nails, enhancing their craftmanship and appearance. Can you imagine them displayed like the image just below (from the West Hollywood restaurant Comme Ça - photo by Erhard Pfeiffer)? I'm especially coveting the top one (loving black and that color wood together right now).

Mad-Hatter Bedroom

chatelaine

Love the playfulness that this wicker-hat chandelier gives to this room that I recently came across in the May '09 issue of Chatelaine magazine. The magazine recently featured the home of Wendy Williams Watt, the (*former) owner of the Vancouver decor shop, Liberty. This is her daughter's room and I love how the black polka-dot/pom-pom-esque bedspread and wicker blinds all pull together with the lighting to create such an awesome space. Unfortunately there isn't a source for the chandelier, only that it was purchased when her daughter was a baby. Photography by Kim Christie. (If anyone knows the source, please leave a comment - thank you). Thanks to reader, Tajmahill we now know the source for the hat chandelier! It's from Lampa! And it comes in different varieties from floorlamp to sconce! Awesome! Thank you!

(*Thank you Anon for the correction notice).
