stitchdraw

shed 1 in shedLR
I came across these wonderful stunning stitch drawings today via my twitter that I just couldn't resist sharing due to their awesomeness. Textile artist, Rosie James has started a new blog called, stitchdraw where she will be sharing her drawings (with needle and thread). Currently she is drawing her workshop/shed starting from one corner and working her way around back to the starting point, to create a kind of flattened panaorma of a space. We love these images where you can see her beautiful work more clearly. It has been positioned so that the drawn elements are more or less outlining the actual elements. This is most clearly seen with the image of the sewing machine. Beautiful.

Fun new screenprinted "felt" placemats and coasters coming out of Summersville this week. Artist Lucie Summers who hails from across the pond in Suffolk, UK has an amazing sense of pattern design, and these one's are seriously fun! The industrial felt is just over a quarter inch thick and has been printed using eco-friendly waterbased ink. See more of her work here.

Studio Spaces Pool @ PHM

We recently opened up a pool on flickr called, Poppytalk Handmade Studio Spaces where we've asked our market participants to upload images of their workspaces. We are hoping to show them here as time and space allows. Today we're showcasing a few. Above, the studio of Jennifer Korff who operates under the moniker, Sophik shares her space through her beautiful photography. Visit her at our market here and her big cartel shop here.

Below from Sfgirlbybay. Everytime we see a photo of Victoria's space, we always see something new, a different way she's displayed things, or the image is taken from a different angle. Always a treat to see. Visit Victoria's etsy shop here.

Below, the studio of Stephanie Levy's studio in Munich, Germany where we see the different stages of her work and her interesting process. Click here to visit her shop.

Artists of PHM: Kate Banazi

In Kate's profile she tells us she does stuff with silkscreens, pencils, cake and very often sharp scalpels. She says, sometimes, even, at the same time. She did a fashion degree but is always in jeans and converse. She's scared of snakes, clowns and nylon. She knocked out her front tooth with a lawnmower, says it wasn't very attractive and was taken to the dentist on the back of a motorbike with an open faced helmet. She says it was painful. She loves ELO. She's right handed, brown eyed and very often melancholy. We love Kate!
