Helping Haiti

We, like everyone are feeling so sad about the devastation and situation in Haiti.

For our upcoming "Love Transforms" market, Poppytalk Handmade will be making a donation on behalf of our participants to Plan Canada to do our small part in helping the people of Haiti. Apparantly 50% of the population in Haiti is children, and Plan Canada is a global movement supporting social justice for children in developing countries. Please find an email message from their Haiti field director sent today - here . The Government of Canada is matching everyone's donation as well between January 12 and February 12th, 2010. Our contribution will help the children and their families directly affected by the earthquake. Click here if you wish to donate as well.

Here is a list of links to other organizations and artists in the handmade community helping out.

CBC News Canada has an extensive list of organizations accepting donations. Amy from Handmade Evolution told us about a link from CNN. Her shop Field Trip is giving 20% of all her profits to Unicef now until Jan. 21st. Natasha of Bubbo is giving 100% of her profits from her Valentine's prints here and here. I'm putting some old designs of posters back in my shop--they're $30 and $25 of each sale will be split between Drs without Borders and Architecture for Humanity. (The remainder will help me offset production costs a little bit)
