Contributer post by Abbey Hendrickson of Aesthetic Outburst
I recently picked up a copy of designer Thomas O'Brien's book, American Modern. Hands down, my favorite part of the book is O'Brien's own home, a former schoolhouse now referred to as The Academy. I've always wanted to live in a renovated school and this just added fuel to that fire. The whole book is chock full of images taken by super-talented photographer Laura Resen. You can see more of her work here and pick up a copy of Thomas O'Brien's book here.

You're so right about his book. I only loved his own houses - his flat in its two incarnations was fantastic. I think it tells you so much more about a person when you can see how their lives and homes change physically. His own properties were obviously more personal - perhaps you can't buy someone elses aesthetic!
I love these interior posts of yours!! Totally makes me want to buy a home and decorate it :) So I guess the savings will start now for that!

I love the last image. Not only for the design but for the two adorable dogs in the basket. how cute.
This house is gorgeous! It used to be really rundown and needed a lot of work, but he fixed it up back to its original glory!
