A French Home (Japanese Style)

A Japanese-inspired home situated between Autun and Beaune in Burgundy, France and designed by architects Jean-Baptiste Barache and Sihem Lamine, Paris. Owners, Peter and Sandrine Colin imagined a house, Japanese style, open to the surrounding nature and built with environmentally friendly materials. Photo credits: Jerome Galland, Aleph. who'd a thought that chipboard would work, but it does. What wonderful creativity. It would be interesting to know how much it cost to create that space.

This is so unique, and the unfinished style looks amazing!
That shower/tub is too cool!

isn't that particle board held together with nasty glues that out-gas and make people feel ill? or am i thinking of something else?
love the minimalism but not the particle board.

Beautiful! The pressed wood is interesting. I've never seen it used that way before.

jennifer - they make particle board without the formaldehyde emissions now - and this house is "green" (mentioned in the article).

hey jan,
thanks for the answer! that's great to know, sometimes "environmentally friendly" refers to the footprint or process of production, sometimes to the materials used and then sometimes, both. It can be hard to assume which.
