We came across the Thunderbird in Marfa, Texas over the weekend and we're really loving the modern southwestern interiors like this lately, white sheets, stark walls and striped pemberton-type blankets in the rooms are right down my alley.

A locally run hotel since 1959, was refurbished by Lake/Flato Architects in 2005 transforming the structure into a model of modern design and livibility while maintaining the original hotel’s bygone feeling of leisure. Above all photo's from thunderbirdmarfa.com. More images of the hotel and Marfa (below) from Sea of Shoes via nork stil.

thanks for posting this...Lake and Flato are on my fav list of architects.
I love it there. In case you've missed it, the same owners have Hotel San Jose in Austin and it's one of my favorite places I've ever stayed by far.
this looks so cool! I've wanted to visit the San Jose for sometime now...
Liz Lambert is the brains behind this operation, as well as the San Jose and Santa Cecelia in Austin.
Her brother Lou Lambert has a restaurant in Marfa, as well as an upscale BBQ place in Austin.
Sarah B - I had read that over at Sea of Shoes blog but didn't see it on the hotel site - but cool to know.
Cece - Thanks for the fun facts!
