Fun to see local celebrity author, Douglas Coupland's (second home - he purchased the house next door to his main home) here in Vancouver featured in the New York Times recently. Coupland an artist before he became a writer, installed many works of art throughout this original midcentury home, including his own creations.

Coupland's "Downy Fabric Softener" sits in a hall with original flagstone flooring.

Douglas installed dice on the wall near the stairwell as an ode to artist Damien Hirst's pill paintings

Coupland applies white Lego building blocks to a post upstairs in his home along with his "Target Stack" installation.

Oeh, what a good idea of those threads ,the first picture. I have to make such a thing for my new studio:)
Wow, i love that target stack installation - along with all the other things. Makes me want to go and play - in a great house like this ;)
How wonderful to have such a beauty of a house to create and play within...

His home is wonderful. I would love a mid-century house.

I just love who everything is not quite what it seems and gives lots of color without being overwhelming in an otherwise neutral home. I want a house like that.
Seriously inspiring. Those spools remind me of the mills in northern england.
I love how crisp and colourful it all looks! Just beautiful! And I'd like those threads hanging in my studio!
Wow, how crazy! (in a good way) I'd love to tour this home!!
