Douglas Coupland's Second Home

Fun to see local celebrity author, Douglas Coupland's (second home - he purchased the house next door to his main home) here in Vancouver featured in the New York Times recently. Coupland an artist before he became a writer, installed many works of art throughout this original midcentury home, including his own creations.

Coupland's "Downy Fabric Softener" sits in a hall with original flagstone flooring.

Douglas installed dice on the wall near the stairwell as an ode to artist Damien Hirst's pill paintings

Coupland applies white Lego building blocks to a post upstairs in his home along with his "Target Stack" installation.

Ah! I'm hoping to display my thread spools in a similar fashion in my studio, but on a much smaller scale!

Love it.

I just love who everything is not quite what it seems and gives lots of color without being overwhelming in an otherwise neutral home. I want a house like that.

Seriously inspiring. Those spools remind me of the mills in northern england.
