New IKEA 2012 Catalogue - A Quick Glance

Just took a quick peak at the new IKEA 2012 catalogue (US version) and thought I'd share a bit of what I saw. So if you are like me and don't like previews like this before you see things for yourself, skip it, baby skip it! There wasn't anything that just went "wow" to me, but there are a few nice additions I thought worth mentioning. First off the new SKURAR series powder-coated galvanized steel hanging planters and flower pots.  So cute and seriously cheap $4.99 and $2.99!

Striped textiles!  Finally, is all I can say!  I have no idea why it's been so hard to get striped fabric like this on this side of the world but yay, this makes me happy!  I also captured a close-up of the table because I loved the bulbs displayed in those clear vases.  Also note the light bulbs (HEMMA) hanging like that.  Like.

Pretty new duvet cover set called EMELINA ROS

The TORNO series lamps (below far left and floor lamp right).

VARMLUFT - A fun clever pendant light by Jon Karlsson which folds flat for transportation. $5.

New TRANETORP dining table and SIGURD benches

I know IKEA isn't selling wallpaper (that I'm aware of anyway) but really, they should sell this polka dot version.  Maybe it's their fabric?  Not sure, but I'm loving it on the walls.

And yet more lovely polka dots.  Anyone know the source, please fell free to leave a comment.

And that's about it from a quick glance.  Let me know what you think.

LOOOOVE it so far. Hope they have the same/similar new stuff in Canada. They're rebuilding the Ikea near me and it's going to be the largest in Canada - so excited!! Thanks for this preview, it makes me giddy. Also, in the photo of the lighting - the glass square table lamp looks pretty fantastic! x

Other than the pricing - is the US catalogue different than ours? (canada)
Those lace edged planters would be great as pendant lamps!

Lindsay - our IKEA is being rebuilt too - where are you?

HeidiRose - last year the only difference i could find was the front cover - but i know they do carry a few things that we don't have every once in a while, but hope they have most of the things i wrote about!

emc - my thoughts exactly - so pretty but probably a bit too girly for the dudes.

oh those hanging planters and flower pots are lovely and that pricing is crazy good. i try to avoid ikea for these types of items in favor of indie designers (not going to pretend the bulk of our furniture isn't from there tho), but i am super tempted by those two items!

oooh, so excited to see these, thanks for sharing Jan! I'm heading to Ottawa soon, can't wait to go shopping at Ikea while there!

I was going to say I bet there's a way to make those pretty flower pots on your own but, seriously, at that price?? I'm a total DIY-er but sometimes you're better off just buying the thing!

I'm really surprised that Ikea would feature something like the polka dot wallpaper if they didn't sell it...
They have great styling but let's face it- it is calculated to promote sales...
Hopefully something will turn up in store or perhaps it is fabric that they will show us how to adorn our walls with; it looks so fresh and happy~

Ikea is a mainstay at my home. Ikea and the thrift stores, what would I do without them? Thanks for the preview!

looks nice. that stripy fabric has been around in IKEA for likecten years ;)

Skurar hanging planter could be turned into a lamp very easy: turn the planter up side down, and drill a hole, on the top of it.
Finally, pull hema cord, thru the hole.

It is so easy, takes only 5 min, and beautiful :)
To remove the stickers from the item is much more difficult....;-)

I do love those lacey planters. Just in time, we're about to start furnishing our place anew after living abroad. I love how Ikea is always so liveable looking - so many of their rooms include toy storage and things like that. I get sick of looking at interiors I know my little guy would destroy in 4 minutes flat. Intrigued by the Billy wall storage units that go over windows or doors, I don't remember seeing that before. I'm going there tomorrow, so will keep an eye out... mmmm, hot dogs and cinnamon buns.

here, this shop in Cologne, Germany, has a couple polka-dotty ones. I didn't see so many on the site, but in the shop. (they have about all the pretty wallpaper in the world.) They're all english fluent so you can email them, they surely can tell you the production firms and lead you to polky wallpaper haven :)

I have been looking for this gold polka dot wallpaper for months. Saw it in an ikea picture on pinterest & I've spent hours on the hunt for it. I desperately want it for my baby girls nursery! I've even looked into custom wallpaper & decorative painting. If you have any insight as to Where to find this wallpaper, please let me know! (I doubt it's fabric because it's too flush to the wall, you don't see any wrinkles etc.) please contact me if you have any info! Thanks!!! (lks0914atgmaildotcom)
